Site Work Team Leader/Equipment Operator

Northland Based, Permanent Position

Northscape are growing, and we’re now looking for new staff.

As one of the largest landscape contractors in Northland, we undertake Residential and Commercial projects of all sizes, and need team members that know their way around the industry.

The Site Work Team Leader is an experienced landscaper and equipment operator working with minimal supervision. The position works as a member of a team and directs the activities of members at the job site thoughout the Northland Region.

Essential Job Functions

Maintain a schedule and ensure service expectations are met.

Operate small to large excavators, skid steers, tip trucks, and typical landscape site work tools daily.

Surface customer concerns and report back to the Project Manager.

Proactively assist in resolving issues with customer service when needed.

Ensure work is performed safely and in accordance with company policies.

Communicate regularly with the Project Manager to ensure client needs and expectations are consistently being met or exceeded.

Deliver services as specified on client sites.

Work to identify more efficient ways to perform duties.

Coordinate service execution with the Project Manager.

Oversee the day-to-day site operations and delegate work to crew members.

Provide the Project Manager with feedback on crew members.

Work with the Project Manager to help to develop and train crew members.

Ensure that equipment preventative maintenance is performed as needed and that equipment is in good working order.

Preform daily inspections of equipment, trucks & trailers, greasing of equipment and preparation of tools for the job.

Participate in branch meetings as directed.

Accurately capture and turn in crew time logs and material usage.

Log equipment usage and maintenance cycles.

Other tasks and duties as assigned by Northscape Leadership.

Hold team members accountable.

Work with the Project Manager to assist with site layout using construction documents and site plans.

Install and maintain silt controls and construction fencing.

Preform site demo, base prep, concrete footing installs, retaining walls, drainage, rock and step installations for Northscape design – build projects.

Perform all tasks involved in site work and landscaping such as digging, shoveling, cutting, sweeping, raking, wheelbarrowing, picking stones and clearing of debris.

Load and unload materials and supplies.

Organize materials, tools and maintain a clean job site daily.

Follow company safety policies and procedures at all times.

Display willingness to continuously learn new things.

Clearly communicate and organize workflow on a daily basis.

Requirements

3 years of experience in landscaping or excavation.

1-3 years of experience in reading, understanding, and executing landscape and site work plans.

Capable of operating the required equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner.

Valid Class 2 Driver’s License minimum and Endorsments.

Availability to work flexible hours including some weekends.

Highly motivated, self-driven individual who is detail oriented.

Punctual, dependable and accountable.

Capability of multi-tasking.

Ability to work with a culturally diverse work force.

Clean and professional appearance.

Must be able to lift heavy objects.

Location And Hours:

Location: Northland, New Zealand

Hours:  7.00am – 5.00pm, Monday to Friday (typical hours)

Salary:

Rate: Variable – based on experiance and attitude
