Small Poppies – Early Childhood Education

Small Poppies required a renovated playground for their centre in Ruakaka. Looking to combine a natural look with fun outdoor play spaces, they chose Northscape to execute the design and build.

To achieve the ‘natural look’ the centre wanted, Northscape used a range of sustainable and locally sourced timbers for the fences, furniture, borders, and various play items. And along with the concrete and grass surfaces we included a ‘natural look’ synthetic surfacing, Northscape were able to carry the natural theme throughout the entire space.

For this area, a renovated central sandpit and fence was added to divide the space, a bike track, timber boardwalk bridge and balance logs were hidden throughout the gardens for children to find under a large shade tree and native grass ‘soft zone’ was installed to allow for maximum use of the play area during sunny days.
